Major Responsibilities of the Position:
- Install, maintain/repair, remove, rearrange, program, test and troubleshoot residential/small business products and services.
- Complete various splicing connections on new and existing cable, fiber, wire and connect wires and cables to terminals and attach/detach various kinds of hardware to wires and cables.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools and specialty tools to install/repair and confirm product/service functioning properly.
- Work with telecom color-coded wires and cables including basic AC/DC electricity.
- Complete designated amount of work in a specified timeframe with a high degree of quality.
- Interact with customers, peers and lead professionally and courteously.
- Uses laptop for various purposes, including but not limited to checking email, reviewing ticket or circuit information, running routine tests.
Job Requirements:
- Install equipment, running & pulling cable, while adhering to regulations & standards.
- Test equipment & connections, identify and correct any issues.
- Maintain accurate records through documentation of installations, services, and repairs.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following safe practices and adhere to safety policies.
- Must work full time, and “on-call” as needed, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to lift and/or move to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance and climb ladders up to 40 feet in length.
- Experience in fibre cable termination with connector types is an asset.
- Knowledge of work area protection and safe work practices, electrical safety awareness and fall protection is an asset.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Holding Ontario G driver’s license for over of 3 years.
- Willingness and ability to travel to various customer sites daily including overnight trips.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Any experience with copper, CAT 5/6, and fiber optic wiring is an asset.
- Any experience in the field or in a related area is an asset.
Other skills:
- Self-starter with high attention to detail
- Capable of working independently and within a team.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to interact with team members and clients.
- Fluent in English - verbal and written.
Working hours & location
- Monday to Friday with weekend availability.
- Must be able to work full time, and “on-call” as needed, which may include nights, weekends, overtime on team lead’s approval and holidays, as required Ontario wide.
